Kenya Prayer Requests

HUDSON MUKUNZA OF THE KENYA HOUSE OF PRAYER AND THE CO-CHAIR OF THE EUROPE/AFRICA RECONCILIATION PARTNERSHIP SHARES THE FOLLOWING REPORT ON THE SITUATION FOLLOWING THE ELECTION IN KENYA FOR OUR PRAYERS:

"Calm is returning to the country, but the healing and resettlement of people will take more than a few years. Government conservative figures estimate 250,000 displaced people, but it could be twice that, according to the media.

We would urge you to pray with us:

1. There seems to have been deep seated animosity in people which the present quest for peace may not do away with. Politicians have always depended on tribal strength and numbers either in voting or in oppressing others. Our prayer is that there will be deep healing, and dealing with tribal altars that have held the population in bondage. Pray for the healing of the land, as much blood has been shed. Pray that tribal repentance that has begun among believers will be deep, and will extend to national leaders (tribes repenting to each other for wrongs done recently and in the past).

2. Ask God to dismantle evil, satanic structures in the tribes that perpetuate wars and tribal pride that leads to hatred of others.

3. We have had peace as a nation but we realize we have always covered wrongs and ills that have happened in our nation in the past that have bottled up anger in the heart of the populace. Kindly pray that in this season not only peace, but justice from God will bring total healing to the hearts of people (Amos 5:24).

4. The imbalances that we have in Kenya to a certain extent played into it. The people who live in the slums are bitter against the rest, whom they perceive are responsible for their misery, since they live well. Pray that this issue will be addressed expeditiously. Kenya is one of the most unequal nations in terms of resource distribution.

5. We see, obviously, that our politicians do not care for the nation, but personal interests or protection of their individual tribes. Pray with us that many will be humbled and will seek the welfare of the nation. We saw the height of political arrogance and total lack of feelings for the people and the nation. Pray indeed that God will remember Kenya and give her servant leaders.

6. Pray that God will intervene in the political crisis we have. President Kufour, who is the African Union chairman, will be arriving on Jan 8th evening for a dialogue meeting between Mwai Kibaki and Raila Odinga on the 9th. Pray that a way forward for the nation will be found that favors God's purpose for Kenya.

7. Pray that Kenya will emerge from this crisis stronger and better. The International Media has had a field day in our country to show how bad we have fallen and to say that Kenya will never recover from this. We refuse that, in Jesus name, and pray that God will be merciful to heal the wounded, restore the hurting and those that lost much and that He will restore Kenya back to His plan in our generation.

We are very sorry for the pain and inconvenience we caused our neighbors, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and East DRC, for disrupting fuel supplies and other supplies through our port during the chaos. May the Lord forgive Kenya for hurting your economies.

Bless you richly and thank you for support. We are meeting at Kenya House of Prayer daily fasting and praying for the situation in Kenya."

Prayer Letter Number 13

Prayer Letter #13

15 November 2007

Dear Prayer Partners of The Better Place,

You prayed regarding the County-wide "Transformation Event" that was held in Chautauqua County in August. The county was well represented by the participants and, in addition, four people who represented "Transform Buffalo" in Erie County, NY attended. Christian ministries from throughout the County were represented by displays that were set up around the sanctuary of the host church. Worship was powerful and dynamic. The purpose of this event was clearly met as participants gained a clearer revelation of what God is doing corporately to bring His revival to the region and as intercessors and leaders in ministry "found" each other and established ties that will keep them working together for the Kingdom in this region. - Because of this Event, intercessors from throughout the county are now meeting together for prayer each Monday in the prayer room of the Samaritan House in Sinclairville (in the geographic center of the county). - Thank you for your prayers; God heard and answered!

You prayed about the Pastors' Prayer Summit that was scheduled for three days in September. This had to be postponed due to low registrations. Thank God, we were able to quickly set new dates (11-13 February 2008) as God favored us. We can see God's hand in all of this. Praise God also because of the great publicity the ministry of The Better Place received through this; we were publicized on the Family Life Network radio station throughout western New York and Pennsylvania for a solid week. Many people came to me to tell me they had heard the ads. - Thank you for your prayers; God heard and answered! And please keep the February Summit in your prayers. Also, if you are a pastor, go to our web site and register now. If you are a lay person, please direct your pastor to our web site to get registered now for the February Pastors' Prayer Summit. Thank you!

You prayed for a "Building His House of Prayer" workshop that I led at the Jamestown Healing Word Church in October. God was graciously, wonderfully and dynamically present throughout the weekend at Healing Word Church. The people were attentive and open to what the Spirit had to say. I am confident this congregation will continue to grow strong as a part of God's House of prayer. - Thank you for your prayers; God heard and answered!

It is impossible for the Church to effectively fulfill the commission Christ has given us if we are not actively engaged in the ministry of inner healing and deliverance. For this reason I see the Agape Prayer Ministry as a key component of the ministries that The Better Place offers on an ongoing basis. On November 2nd and 3rd we sponsored an Agape Prayer Ministry Training School. To put it mildly, God's favor was all over this School that served participants from Chautauqua and Warren counties in NY and PA. You may read more about this most recent School in the NEWS section at our web site and you may read about this ministry in the EQUIPPING THE CHURCH pages at our web site. - Please keep this on-going ministry in your prayers.

I was privileged to be taking my turn in our Healing Rooms one recent Tuesday when a man came with a medical diagnosis of compressed disks in his back. His doctor had scheduled surgery for him. He was in so much pain (pain shooting down his legs) that he could not stand for prayer; he had to sit. God healed him completely on the spot as soon as I commanded the infirmity to leave and spoke healing. He went out literally dancing and glorifying God to the other men who were in our waiting room. Those men then received their healing that same day too! - A man who had been diagnosed by medical personnel as having double angina came to our healing rooms, then after a return visit to his doctor, he contacted our Healing Rooms director (MaryAnn Dahlbeck) to report that he had been completely healed. - On another occasion an elderly woman who was blind was brought in. There was no immediate manifestation of her healing while she was there but a couple weeks later when MaryAnn telephoned her to see how she was doing she reported that her sight had been completely restored. - And so it goes. Many weeks we do not have anyone come to the Healing Rooms but whenever they do come Jesus always meets them! - Thank you for your continued prayers for all who minister as a part of this God-glorifying ministry.

As you contemplate your year-end giving please consider a generous donation to The Better Place. - And here is a way you can give year-round without giving your own money:

Do all your web searching at www.goodsearch.com

Just type Better Place (Jamestown, NY) in the "WHO DO YOU GOODSEARCH FOR?" Box. You only have to type that in once and it will automatically be your default charity recipient. Then you can give even more without actually giving by clicking on the "GoodShop" icon at this web search site where you will discover that practically every major retail chain in the nation will contribute a percentage of your purchases from them to The Better Place. So, happy searching and happy shopping to benefit The Better Place!

Thank you for your prayers. Thank you for your financial support and the words of encouragement I receive from so many. - Have a great Thanksgiving holiday!

Updated Prayer Requests

Our Current Prayer Requests page has been updated to include the following:

Following are some prayer concerns regarding which we ask you to be in intercession. Also you will usually find some references to answers received we would like you to join in giving thanks for.

  • Please thank God for His favor on the Chautauqua County Transformation Event that was held during the month of August.
  • Please hold TBP Board members in your prayers as they gather to do the business of TBP on Saturday 22 September beginning at 4:00 in the afternoon. Pray for safe travel and for spirits awake to God’s Spirit. Pray for protection from the enemy.
  • Please pray for God’s will to be done during the Pastor and Ministry Leader Prayer Summit that will take place at Camp Findley over a three-day period from 24-26 September. Ask the Spirit of God to convict each person who should be present to set aside the time and go. Ask for safe travel, healing for participants, revival within each participant and for all participants to clearly hear God during this Summit. Pray for protection from the enemy.
  • The 501(C)(3) status of TBP must be reviewed and renewed before the end of 2007. Please for a favorable outcome to this process so TBP will be able to continue to receive tax deductible gifts and to function as a tax exempt ministry.
  • The Chautauqua Region Agape Prayer Ministry Fall School will take place on 02-03 November 2007. TBP sponsors and oversees this School where participants are taught to minister inner healing and deliverance. Please ask God’s favor in the promotion of this School so those who are supposed to hear about it will get the information. Ask the Spirit to convict persons to attend who are supposed to attend. The registration fee is $60; pray that people will have the money they need to attend. Ask God for journey mercies. Ask God’s grace so all teachers will be well prepared in every possible way. Ask for protection from the enemy.

Thank you!
