The Healing Rooms are a faith-based ministry where healing is administered according to Scriptural principles found in the Bible. It functions under the spiritual covering and guidelines of Healing Rooms International [www.healingrooms.com], which is based in Spokane, WA, and also under the corporate and spiritual covering of The Better Place, Inc. – The Healing Rooms Director is Mary Ann Dahlbeck [716-484-0702]. The Assistant Director is William Spangler [716-338-3037]. These persons are amenable to a local Board that includes three local clergy; Rev. Dayle Keefer of the Fluvanna Community Church, Rev. Alfonso Pagan of Nueva Vida Covenant Church and Rev. Dr. Roy Miller who is currently the Director of The Better Place (formerly the Superintendent for the Cornerstone District of the United Methodist Church).

The service of The Healing Rooms is free and no appointment is needed. No medical counsel is offered. A trained team of three persons ministers to each individual who request prayer following the example set by Jesus and by his apostles. – Sometimes people are clearly healed instantly (examples: a man with crippling pain in both legs who could not bear to stand up and who doctors had diagnosed to have a pinched nerve in his back, left pain-free and dancing. A number of people with painful arthritic knees have had all symptoms vanish) Others come back later to report their healing after visiting their doctors (examples: a man who took medication for diabetes returned to report he now had normal blood sugar level and was off all medication. A man who had a double aneurism reported back, after his doctor ran tests, that he had been completely healed. A woman reported back that her hip had been healed after she had been to her doctor for confirmation.). The ministry team follows the example of Jesus by telling all ministry recipients who have been under a doctor's care to "go show yourself to the doctor." Ministry recipients are strictly admonished never to cease taking medications without a doctor's permission. – All ministry recipients are provided with literature to help them understand the Biblical teaching on receiving healing by faith including reasons why healing may not always be manifested instantly.

The ministry team members at the Healing Rooms come from nine different "denominations" of the Church (at present count – Sept. 2007) and at least twelve different congregations.

REALITY CHECK: If more people came to the Healing Rooms, fewer tax dollars would have to be spent on Medicaid.
